1 SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS
A city in the state of Chiapas, which still keeps its indigenous flavor and whose fusion with Catholicism since the arrival of the Spaniards. It has panned out to be an impressively beautiful travel destination.
2 HUASCA
Located in the state of Hidalgo, its Church of San Juan Bautista, built in the 16th century, honors the patron saint of the city, famous for its Basaltic Prisms, a rocky formation with waterfalls from the San Antonio Dam.
3 TAXCO
In the state of Guerrero, this is a city famous for its production of silver jewelry and for its Spanish colonial architecture. It houses the iconic 18th-century Church of Santa Prisca, pink in color with an elaborate Churrigueresque style.
4 PALENQUE
It is located in the beautiful state of Chiapas and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, hemmed in by beautiful landscapes in the jungle.
5 TEPOZTLÁN
Known for being the birthplace of Quetzalcóatl, an Aztec god represented with a feathered snake. A trail leads to the Aztec pyramid of Tepozteco, at the top of a hill above this city in the state of Morelos, which boasts its ancient Convent of Tepoztlan, a 16th century Dominican monastery.
6 BACALAR
Home to the peerless Laguna de los Siete Colores (Seven-color Pond), enjoying its waters and beauty is an impressive gift of nature in this magical place nestled in the state of Quintana Roo.
7 PARRAS DE LA FUENTE
In the state of Coahuila, home to great wines and to the oldest wine production in the Americas. The governor of Nueva Vizcaya, Diego Fernández de Velasco, handed over the grant authorized by King Felipe II, dated August 19, 1597, with the express purpose of planting vineyards to produce wine and brandy, thus giving formal birth to the Hacienda de San Lorenzo, which today is Casa Madero.
8 REAL DE CATORCE
Beautiful mining town in San Luis Potosi, of great importance during colonial rule, thanks to its silver deposits. The village can be reached through the long Ogarrio tunnel, which passes through the surrounding peaks.
9 TZINTZUNTZAN
This city in the state of Michoacan was the most important during the Purepecha Empire and later on became its capital, located next to Lake Patzcuaro.
10 CHOLULA
Also called the place of those who fled, is located in Puebla. It's an important pre-hispanic settlement with a large number of shrines and temples built during the Classical Period, which makes it a sacred site.
