The Rural Sustainable Development project that is being carried out today in Las Terrazas is one of balance, of moderation, of respect for the environment. It is a project of conscience for the preservation of life, with viable solutions for nature and man, with dreams and utopias possible to achieve, living signs that have come from the darkness to be the hope and guide of its inhabitants and visitors. It has been like a light in the very heart of the Sierra del Rosario.

Visiting this beautiful experience, which is more than 50 years old and is located only 51 km from the Cuban capital, you will find charming stories that tell the ruins of French coffee plantations of the nineteenth century; you can learn about the passage of the Invading Column through the region and about the background of a community that was created by the urgent need to eliminate the precarious living conditions of its inhabitants, who lived scattered in the area, then deforested.

You will be able to see firsthand the privilege that today represents for this same community to be the center of development of the first Biosphere Reserve and first Ecomuseum of Cuba, National Monument in the category of Cultural Landscape and Zone of High Significance for Tourism, which affects the economic support of most of the families who live here.
